How much does artificial grass cost?

Artificial grass cost ranges from $0.89 to $8.00  per sq.ft.

The following factors affect the cost of synthetic turf the most:

1) Manufacturing in the US vs Asia. Imported artificial turf often lacks consistency, elasticity, and UV protection against fading. US quality control is much stronger. Yet, it does not mean that every imported turf is a bad turf.

2) Weight of the material. The more weight in artificial grass, the more material and cost comes with it. Some suppliers overestimate the weight of artificial turf. Other sellers include the weight of backing. The face weight of artificial grass shows the amount of so-called "enjoyable" part of artificial grass.

3) Blade shape and artificial turf technology. The more advanced blade shape (w, ribbed S, omega) makes synthetic turf more durable and costs more to produce. Antibacterial technologies or Microban tech add to the cost of fake turf.

4) Backing. More layers of artificial turf backing increase the durability of the material and help to support the upright position of artificial turf. Permeable backing allows sanitizing turf at the entire surface as opposed to the areas only around the holes. Artificial grasses with mesh backing cost much more due to produce but they could be used without infill and provide incredible turf ventilation to keep k9 turf for dogs dry.

 5) Nylon artificial turf costs more. Nylon artificial turf is superior in elasticity and melting temperature resulting in a higher fire ranking for artificial grass. This comes with prices starting at around $6.5 per square foot.

How Long Will Artificial Grass Last?

Most artificial grasses have an expected life span of 15 years. The lifespan of any turf depends on use and cleaning. Shorter artificial grasses with bolder blades survive more traffic and look just as nice. For example, soft plush grass might not be the best option for a side yard with consistent traffic. Is Artificial Turf Safe for Children and Babies?

Does Artificial Grass Get Hot?

Synthetic grass does get significantly warmer than a natural lawn when it’s out in the direct, mid-day sun. However, artificial grass doesn’t retain heat in the shade or darkness. The wind cools it down quickly, unlike the concrete surface.

How Do You Clean Artificial Grass?

For light artificial grass cleaning, you can use a leaf blower or stiff-bristled broom and then rinse with water. For lightly soiled areas and pet-friendly areas, we recommend pairing them with a sanitizer.

For best results, use a pressure washer. When power washing your turf, keep your wand nozzle at least one foot away from your artificial grass at all times. It is a best practice to apply sanitizer. Will Installing Turf Reduce Bugs and Pests?

Yes! The sod is removed from the surface and heavily compacted before road base is applied on top of the soil. The lack of soil and dirt prevents bugs and pests from getting their food source so they migrate elsewhere.
