Learn the best practices to keep your pet turf installation free of odor and bacteria. Hear industry-leading cleansers and their recommended uses. We'll also share when these methods are recommended.
We recommend using a few different cleansers to help maintain your complete pet turf system. Use natural solutions when cleaning your grass to provide a safe space for children and animals. It’s also important to use natural cleaning solutions because harsh chemicals can damage your artificial grass over time. Not only will this protect your loved ones, but it’s also better for the environment! Below are our favorites:
If you’re in a pinch, you can use a solution mixture of white vinegar and water to clean the area. Vinegar is very effective in cleaning germs and bacteria, but it should definitely be diluted first. This solution is best for light cleaning. We still recommend using a cleaning detergent for more thorough cleanings.
These cleaners are the most comparable to the vinegar solution. They’re more of a sanitizer and can be used often. The WysiWash cleaner can be attached directly to your hose for ease of use, while the Angry Orange products can be used directly out of the bottle.
For heavier cleanings, we recommend OdorX and ZorbX. OdorX is a heavy-duty odor removing cleaning solution. ZorbX has a variety of cleansers on their site, but the one that we linked is specifically a pet odor remover.
The last two cleaners we recommend are for more aggressive cleanings. They’re both made by RMR, and the first is the RMR-86 Mold Stain Remover. This works best if you have been skimping on cleanings or your turf has a really bad odor. It will wash away mold and mildew. The second is the RMR-141 Disinfectant cleaner. This is a strong solution for any general deep cleaning.
Please always make sure to test spot your artificial grass with a cleaning solution before using it. We trust these cleaners the most, but you should still double-check that it’s safe for your yard. Also, make sure that you thoroughly rinse your yard with water after using cleaning solutions to make sure it’s completely flushed away. Forgetting this step may be a safety hazard to pets.
