Artificial Grass Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
Why Clean Artificial Turf?
It costs much less to prevent odor.
Moist environments encourage bacterial growth, and warmth can lead to unpleasant smells. Just as a neglected pool turns green, artificial grass that isn't treated can degrade.
Pet turf requires regular care to avoid bacterial accumulation beneath it. Ignoring this maintenance can result in an odor similar to rotten eggs, which is easier to prevent than to remove.
Problems frequently occur in the spring when bacteria thrive in moist conditions. The heated turf emits strong odors from the infill and beneath the backing. Don't let the issue escalate.
Take action now to preserve your lawn! Preventing odor guarantees a fresh and lively artificial grass experience.
How Cleaning Works?
Brushing
First, we brush turf to release memory in artificial turf blades and open up infill layer. This wakes up your turf and removes dirt that sits deep in the grass and accelerates drainage with ventilation.Treating
Then we clean dirty spots and treat against bacteria and mold. We use a lot of water and a power washer (when selected). At this point we try to kill bacteria that is stuck in the infill and under the backing of the turf.
SAnitizing
Then, we rinse turf and apply sanitizer. A layer of sanitizer will continue working and preventing bacteria growth. Over time, sanitizer will be washed under the backing to hunt bacteria underneath and in the ground.

FAQs
- Does Using Strong Cleansers Damage Artificial Grass?
- Yes, the damage may occur if not used properly. Please read the instructions carefully and use protective gear!
- How Often Should I Clean Artificial Grass?
-
This depends on how the turf is used! If your lawn is low traffic with no pets, you're probably okay to rinse the surface occasionally and use a leaf blower to remove leaves and debris. If your lawn is used consistently for pet relief, consistent cleaning and rinsing will be necessary to keep the area bacteria and odor-free. - When is it Time to Replace an Artificial Lawn?
-
If you take care of your artificial lawn, it can look freshly installed for 15 years, maybe even longer! By having your space regularly treated and brushed to redistribute the infill and remove debris you're lengthening the life of your synthetic lawn.
Typically, homeowners will replace their artificial lawn when blades have become severely matted down or there's surface damage. While repairs are possible, it can be tricky to fix it without compromising the materials or looking a different color than the rest of the lawn. Also, if pet turf is not consistently cleaned and sanitized, the odor and bacteria growth can drastically lessen the life of your turf.
